Suited For Success
What is Suited For Success?
Suited For Success is a non-profit corporation that provides
interview-quality, professional business clothing at no charge to
economically disadvantaged women in Central Oklahoma. Suited For Success
also offers clients continuing professional and personal development
opportunities monthly. We rely on private donations and volunteerism to
drive our mission of helping low-income women and women on public
assistance achieve economic self-sufficiency and better lives for
themselves and their families.
Suited For Success exists to make these things possible, but it’s your
support that makes them happen. Please take a look at our Wish List or
our How You Can Help page to see how you might help us achieve our
mission.
Who are your
clients?
Our clients are low-income women who have completed job training and are
actively seeking employment.
How do you find
your clients?
Suited For Success’ clients come from many walks of life. Two criteria
for clients to come to us are that they must be considered “low income”
and they must have completed a job training or job readiness program.
Our clients are currently referred to us by our Community Partners. Our
clients come to us by referral and by appointment only.
Where are you
located?
We are located in Oklahoma City at 4141 Highline Boulevard, Ste 160.
What kinds of
clothing do you accept?
Suited For Success appreciates your donation of professional,
work-appropriate clothing and accessories. Due to limited resources, we
are unable to clean or repair damaged clothing or accept donations in
bags or boxes. Please ensure clothing is on hangers, new or gently worn,
in season, and clean (no stains, tears & with all buttons), with sizes
clearly marked. We accept:
• Skirt & pant suits
• Blazers & blouses
• Dresses, slacks & skirts
• Shoes
• Accessories (jewelry, scarves, purses, etc.)
• Unopened pantyhose
• Unopened make-up
Is my donation
tax-deductible? Do you provide a tax receipt?
Yes, Suited For Success is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All
contributions of clothing and accessories are tax-deductible to the
extent allowed by law. We provide a signed tax receipt but do not assess
the value of your donation as that is the privilege and responsibility
of the donor.
What do you do
with donations that are inappropriate for your clients?
It is our policy to donate most clothing and/or accessory items that are
inappropriate for our clients to another charitable organization.
However, we reserve some items to place in our Spring and Fall sales. We
invite our clients to these sales, which generate operating funds.
Do you pick-up
donations?
At this time, Suited For Success is predominately volunteer run. We only
have one part-time staff member thus we do not have a pick-up service.
As we grow we hope to include this service. We ask that you plan your
donation drop for the 3rd Friday of each month between the hours of 9:00
a.m. to 4:00p.m.
Do you accept
bags or boxes of clothing?
No, clothing donated in bags or boxes is generally very wrinkled and our
clients wear the donated clothing immediately. We cannot afford to dry
clean clothing before giving it to our clients and our clients cannot
afford to pay for dry cleaning before going on their job interview. We
only accept clothing that is cleaned, pressed, and on hangers. We do
accept shoes and accessories in bags or boxes.
Do you accept
men’s clothing?
Not at this time. We encourage you to donate these items to another
charitable organization.
